As young children, triplets Gabby, Annie, and Mark Duncan make Christmas wishes by tossing coins into a wishing well in North Pole, Alaska. They each wish for their heart’s desire to come true in the future, since their military father has been relocated once again, forcing them to leave their current home and friends behind.

Mark Duncan is an internationally known, best-selling science-fiction and fantasy author, but he wants more. He returns home from a lengthy book-signing tour, in order to spend more time with his sisters. The night after their thirtieth birthday, an old high school buddy arrives with a baby in tow. Mark learns that the infant belonged to a mutual friend of theirs who recently died. Before passing away, he asked that the child’s last living relative be found. Through complicated circumstances, Mark is left with the task of caring for the newborn and locating his grandmother. He quickly discovers he needs help.

Alena Temple can’t shake the past. Her old high school sweetheart returned to their hometown, but he hasn’t even acknowledged her existence. Making it even more hurtful, he moved into the house right beside hers. She can’t resist his plea for help with the tiny child in his arms or a second chance at love.
